How to Verify Pinterest in WordPress: A Step by Step Guide

Steps to upgrade Pinterest Personal account into a Business account

You can follow the given steps to convert your account into a Business account:

Step 1#. Log in to your Pinterest account or click on Home

Step 2#. Click on the three-dot menu located on the top right corner

Step 3#. Click on the Edit Settings link.

Step 4#. Click on the Account Settings tab.

Step 5#. Under Account changes settings, you will see an option to convert the account. Click on the Convert account button.

Converting to Business account

After you click on the button, you will be taken to a different page where you have to provide additional information like,

  • Your Business name and category
  • Website/URL of your site
  • Connection with other accounts such as Instagram, Etsy, and YouTube
  • Your consent on running ads on Pinterest

After providing this information, your personal account is upgraded to a business account. You will be prompted to post at the end where you can post a pin or skip it.

Claiming your WordPress website on Pinterest

The process to verify your site on Pinterest include three simple steps as mentioned below:

  • Generate Verification Code from your Pinterest account
  • Install and activate Insert Headers and Footers plugin or any SEO plugin
  • Claim your site by adding Pinterest Verification code

To get the verification code, click on three-dots menu followed by Claim tab.

You will get a popup to choose a method for verification. I suggest you go with the Add HTML tag option.

Now, that you have copied the code, it is time to add on your site to proceed further. You can either install Insert Headers and Footers plugin or any SEO plugin that includes the Pinterest verification option.

From your dashboard, go to Plugins > Add New > Search for Insert Headers and Footers plugin. After that install and activate the plugin.

Once the plugin is installed and activated, go to Settings > Insert Headers and Footers settings. Paste the code you copied earlier and click on the Save button.

Adding Pinterest Verification Code in Yoast SEO plugin

Yoast SEO is a plugin Search Engine Optimization plugin that also includes the option to connect your social media account including Pinterest.

If you are using this plugin, you don’t need to install the above plugin. To add the verification code, go to Yoast SEO > Social > Pinterest tab. Add the verification code and click on Save changes button.

Claim your site by adding Pinterest Verification code

Now, that you have added the code and save the changes, it will insert the code in your website <head> tag and is ready for verification.

You can visit the Pinterest website from where you copied the code and click on Next and then on Submit button to confirm your site for verification.

Usually, it takes 24 hours and you get the confirmation email once your site is verified. After the verification, you will see the confirmation on the Claim Website section on Pinterest.
